Hello builders and welcome to the Athion Server Ranking Guidelines. In this guide, we have laid out the building requirements for both main and skill-specific rank trees. We hope this will be helpful in giving you in-depth information as to progressing through our newly-updated ranking system. Before you get to that information; there are two huge things we want to highlight for all of you to keep in mind, no matter your rank. The first is that we don’t want this guide to hinder your creativity and passion for building. Follow them more as outlines rather than formal law and build in the style you feel suits you best. The second is to have fun and build for the reason you want to. You want to build to get better, to make friends, to immerse in the community, or simply for the glory that is Grand Creator? Cool, just go for it and we’ll help you to achieve whatever your goals are.

Student To Apprentice Reviews:top

For Apprentice, you will need to show that you have a basic knowledge of how to detail a build. Structures should not have large flat areas of wall, or randomly spammed slabs and stairs, and include an interior. Terraforming should make sense, and not feel blocky/man-made (include natural curved and features). Look at real life hills and mountains, do these look like what you’ve built? Organics should be clear as to what they’re meant to be, with detailing that makes sense, and close shaping.

The build may only include one of Structure, Organics and Terrain, or all three. Your ability to pass to apprentice will not be hindered by a lack of any two of these three, but the plot should feel completed.

Apprentice To Designer Reviews:top

Designer is a rank that the more seasoned builder, showing a good understanding of building overall, ought to be getting. For Designer, we suggest creating two plots, but a promotion on one is plausible, provided that the plot is, beyond doubt, the level expected of a Designer.

Designer requires at least two of the three areas of building be shown, to a good skill level. This is why we recommend two plots, as it allows you to easily showcase two, or even all three areas. You will need to show a more advanced understanding of depth and detail in your structure. This means that small/medium-sized houses are not generally promotable, as the depth involved will generally consist of a layer of detail over a flat wall. Instead, we want to see multiple layers in the wall itself (thus larger buildings), so the depth is of an advanced level.

We would like to see trees incorporated into the builds where appropriate. These should not be Notch trees, as there is never a circumstance where a notch tree is the best tree for the job. They should be well-shaped with leaf-patterns similar to real trees, and branches of larger trees. Trunks should match their real-life counterparts well.

Any terraforming should be interesting - not just a hill, or a number of mounds, but include caves, block variation, and interesting features (be original). It should not be colored with a “spray” of blocks (i.e. a //replace) but instead, some thought is put into how the terrain is colored, and feel relatively realistic.

Designer To Creator Reviews:top

Creator is where the difference between builders, and creationists is seen. Where building gets serious. Designer and below are the ranks of good builders, but Creator shows the exceptional builders. Therefore, all of custom trees, depth, detail, interior, and terraforming should be shown to a very high (excellent) standard. Organics are also suggested to be included and will help with obtaining a promotion, again they must be fitting with the theme of the build, but they must not be forced into the plot. You should be building creative plots free of constraints of requirements, so let your imagination go wild! We want it to! All aspects of the plot should be completed, and a big structure should be shown, to highlight your abilities in depth and detail. The plot should be creative and innovative in its style, as well as feeling fully complete, with interesting palettes, and shapes in the buildings.

For Creator, it is very much suggested that two plots be used to show at least two different styles, and prove that you are certainly deserving of the Creator rank.

It is stressed that Creator is considered a “top rank”, so the plots need to show that a large amount of effort has been put in.

Creator To Grand-creator Reviewstop

These will always include multiple Mods/Staff and Admins. The general guidelines are that the user must be “Build Team Quality”. Therefore, the requirements are pretty self-explanatory. Be brilliant. Every aspect of building must, therefore, be exceptional, and the plots must include each aspect of building, done properly - no corners must be cut, therefore full interiors, organics, no copy/pasted trees, structures, depth, and detail.

Large buildings will most definitely need to be shown to display the required levels of both depth and detail, as well as showing an understanding of interiors in large spaces.

Organics Skill Treetop

Organics Level 1:
For the first step the organics progression tree, one must show that they have the beginners knack for Organics building. The shape and the detailing need to be fairly accurate with the object or theme in which you are building. Coloring should also be accurate as well to the theme of which you’re building.

Organics Level 2:
To progress onto the next step, one must meet the previous requirements at a new level. You should show a greater understanding of building objects to proportion while keeping the shape and color mostly accurate to the object you are building. Reviewers should be able to make out what you are creating.

Organics Level 3:
Reaching Level 3 will require that you must show an advanced knowledge in building Organics. While meeting the previous requirements, you must really pull it to a higher level. Curves at this point should be smooth and the proportions should be nearly perfect. Your detailing should be consistent and you should really start to build your creations in a thematic fashion.

Organics Level 4:
This is where you must be beyond the point of “it’s time to get serious.” You should be showing the reviewer you are developing an expertise in this aspect of building. Not only must you meet the previous requirements, but taking them to the level of excellence. By now, you should be moving away from single object constructions to trying to create a scene, with multiple constructions that flow together nicely.

Organics Level 5:
Achieving Level 5 of the Organics Tree, you should be at the level of what we would consider for the Build Team. Everything must be perfect; the shape, color, detailing, and proportions. This level is only for the top-tier organics builders and will be reviewed by both Mods/Staff and Admins alike. There should be nothing visible that needs improvement. Similar to before, you also have to create a scene, taking it to a much higher and larger scale.

Structure Skill Treetop

Structure Level 1:
For the first step of the structure progression tree, you must show that you have the basic knowledge of both depth and detail, with the understanding to not spam blocks in an unnecessary fashion and not having flat walls. You should aim for including interior if you feel it’s necessary.

Structure Level 2:
Level 2 is the next step of progression, where you will need to show that you are passed the basic knowledge of structural building. You must take the previous requirements to the next level. You should start using more than a basic block pallet, experiment with color and making sure you have contrast through your detailing. Moving past single structure builds, try to incorporate a few or more together to show your ability in spatial awareness. Make sure that your constructions flow properly together, keeping thing consistent.

Structure Level 3:
For this level, you must show that you are at an advanced knowledge of structural building and must meet all previous requirements to a much higher level. The size and quantity of your structures should be greater and thematically fitting. You should be aiming for larger than medium-sized structures, as this will allow you display the needed level of depth and detail. Everything should flow properly and all rough spots shouldn’t be present.

Structure Level 4:
For the next step in the progression, you must show that you are at an expert level of structural building. You must go far beyond the previous requirements with depth and detail being at a level of excellence. At this point, you should be creating a scene with your structures by laying them out that is fitting to the style of architecture you are using. The area in which your structures are being created should be filled and spatial awareness is still in consideration. Aim for build sizes bigger than the general large build. Interior should be present to an extent and laid out in a way that is fitting with the structural theme.

Structure Level 5:
You should be constructing at the level of what we would expect of our Build Team members if you want to progress to Level 5. Every aspect of structural building previously required or discussed should be at perfection. This rank will require multiple Mod/Staff and Admin reviews. The scale of the builds should be larger than you’ve built for all previous Structure Tree levels. Interior is fully required and again should be fitting with the structural theme.

Terrain Skill Treetop

Terrain Level 1:
For this level, you should strive to show you have a basic knowledge of terraforming. A small mountain or range of hills is a good way to start and slowly work out from there. You shouldn’t just include the terra itself, but also properly detail with foliage and other aspects that would be fitting for your creation.

Terrain Level 2:
To progress to Level 2, one must show a greater understanding for terraforming and must meet not only the previous requirements but take them to that greater understanding. You should move away from the basic hills and small mountain, and strive for bigger and better. Not only should you detail with the proper foliage, but start including caves, rivers, canyons etc. Trees should be custom and mostly unique. Make it fairly natural looking.

Terrain Level 3:
Moving up to this level will require you have an advanced understanding of terraforming and knowing how to make it really natural looking. You should be taking the requirements of the previous and putting them to new heights. Your terra should be much greater in size and start to fit in a truly natural looking scene. You should include all proper foliage, with every tree being custom and unique. The different aspects of your terra should be fully detailed.

Terrain Level 4:
This is where it starts to really separate the good builders from the great. To get to Level 4, the user must show a close to an expert level understanding of terraforming. Your terra, without a doubt, should be extremely natural looking at every aspect. The size of your terra should put the size from your previous level review to shame. It is possible to make multiple and connect them, if fitting, as you would see in the real world. Every Aspect, including the foliage, caves, natural features, should be at a level of excellence.

Terrain Level 5:
This is the level we would consider to be of the quality of the Build Team. Every aspect of your terra should be at the level of perfection and no block out of place. You need to fully create a scene whether it be one massive landmass or multiple that can connect, that would rival the Earth in beauty. This will require reviews from both Mods/Staff and Admins. All detailing must be fitting, consistent and natural.

Additional Guidelinestop

All players from all ranks should make an effort to be immersed in the community, welcoming new players, assisting others, enter in contests, use the forums, etc. As you progress through the different ranks, we would like to see that immersion progress as well. Teaching can go a long way. We also would like to see a certain degree of kindness and fun behavior included. We do understand however that people are busy and they only have so much free time, which they use to build or relax. We just ask for you to do your best and we promise it’ll create a much more rewarding community experience. The other guideline is that we ask you to be creative, be original and be unique.
